Is NJ getting another P-EBT?
Summer 2022 P-EBT started to be issued in October 2022. A new P-EBT card will be mailed to the address provided by your school.
How long will the increase last? SNAP benefit levels are automatically adjusted every October in order to keep pace with the cost of food and other essential expenses for low-income families. It now seems like the additional spending power will be available until September 2023.
Additionally, starting in March 2023, all households eligible for SNAP will receive a minimum $50 monthly benefit. That means if your approved monthly benefit is less than $50, you will receive a supplemental payment to equal $50. Visit www.NJSNAP.gov to learn more about the SNAP program and these updates.
Benefits are deposited into your account when the application is approved. Each month that you are still eligible, benefits will be deposited at the beginning of the month.
Benefits available:
All SNAP recipients, including those receiving NJ SNAP benefits, will get a financial boost thanks to a major cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for fiscal year 2023. The COLA kicked in starting Oct. 1, 2022, and will hike the maximum monthly benefit by 12.5%.
If I qualify for food stamps/SNAP, how much will I receive? Benefits for all households are adjusted each October. Not all eligible households receive the maximum. As of March 2023, all eligible households receive at least $95 per month in benefits.
For children under 6 enrolled in SNAP, a monthly benefit of $42.02 for each month they were eligible between September 2021 β June 2022 was added to your Families First EBT card. Summer 2022 P-EBT benefits will be issued in one payment for the total benefit of $391 for each eligible child.
The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 law recently passed by Congress ends emergency allotments after the February 2023 issuance. This means by March 2023, all SNAP households' benefits will return to normal amounts, without the added supplement.
Starting in March 2023, you will only receive your regular monthly benefit amount. Additionally, starting in March 2023, all households eligible for SNAP will receive a minimum $95 monthly benefit. That means if your approved monthly benefit is less than $95, you will receive a supplemental payment to equal $95.
